So schaut’s typischerweise bei den BBC News UK aus. Jedesmal, wenn ich diese Seite aufschlage, kommt es mir wie ein Wunder vor, dass in Großbritannien überhaupt noch Menschen am Leben sind…
Unvermittelt kommt einem diese Textpassage in den Sinn, die jedoch schon ein paar hundert Jahre vor der Einrichtung von BBC-Seiten verfasst wurden:
"(…) no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving, and removing such things as require much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; no Society; and which is worst of all, continuall feare, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short." (Leviathan)
Der Autor dieser weltberühmten Zeilen war, wie könnte es anders sein, natürlich: Engländer! Ist das genetisch?
